What is a 3-wire DC system?

The Three Wire DC Distribution System is an old but robust way to distribute electricity. The system consists of two outer wires which are connected at one end with a middle or neutral wire that’s grounded in the generator, making it half as powerful and giving off zero voltage on its own.

What is the role of balancer in a three wire DC transmission?

The three wire DC system balancer set is a device that can help keep an even balance of voltage on both sides of the neutral. It does this by making adjustments in response to changes between load and generation, so as not to overwhelm either side with too much power when they are out-of-sync. This means it makes sure voltages remain equalized despite fluctuations or imbalances due to transmission line losses, reactive impedance mismatches at different points along the circuit (such as from sudden increases in utilization), emergency conditions such as brownouts and blackouts which affect supply frequency levels, or other causes.
